Ian Watkins is a radio presenter based in the UK. He can currently be found presenting the Mansfield 103.2 breakfast show.

Ian has been in radio since the year 2000 and has presented a number of shows including the midmorning and drivetime programmes.

Until September 2009 he could be heard hosting ‘That Friday Feeling’. A talk/music show on 103.2 where listeners got the chance to call the shots.

Ian is passionate about the industry and is proud to have worked his way up to the positions of both Programme Controller and News Editor at Mansfield 103.2. His official title is Managing Editor.

He believes in exciting radio that draws on creative talent and personality whilst working within a strong format.

On the technical side Ian has a firm understanding of Selector and MasterControl, after helping to set up the RCS system at Mansfield 103.2 in August 2009.

Ian also put together Mansfield 103.2′s entries for the Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards in both 2010 & 2011. In May 2011 the radio station was nominated for the second year running in the category of ‘Station Of The Year >400,000 TSA’.

This blog is designed to keep you up to date with the movements of presenter and journalist Ian Watkins.

Known for his creative and fun presenting style, Ian describes himself as a ‘radio geek’.

His love for all things broadcasting started in the 1980s, listening to the sounds of Radio Luxemburg and since then he’s never looked back. His influences include Kenny Everett, Iain Lee, Steve Wright, Guy Harris, Martin Kelner and James Whale.

Ian aka Watko is currently doing two podcasts, Important Target with his friend and radio mentor Iain Lee & The Services Podcast with his former producer Rob Howard.

He’s also popped up on LBC, Absolute Radio, Talksport, BBC5Live & Real Radio Yorkshire with some mildly amusing phone calls.

Ian is extremely proud to be working with the team at Mansfield 103.2 (his home town radio station) and since Summer 2010 has been the presenter of the station’s flagship Breakfast Show ‘Watko In The Morning’.
